The Wisdom of Water: Fluidity, Feeling & Fascia

The Wisdom of Water: Fluidity, Feeling & Fascia

"Who’s to say the effort to be real isn’t the beginning of wings?" – Mark Nepo

Hello dear friends,

As we continue through March, the shifts in season mirror our inner landscape. Pisces energy—dreamy, intuitive, and fluid—guides us as we emerge from winter into Kapha season, balancing earth and water. This week, we deepen into interoception—tuning into our inner world with curiosity and lightness of heart.

Last week, we explored satya (truthfulness) by asking, “What is the truth of this moment?” Now, we weave deeper, asking: “How am I feeling?”—engaging not just from the mind but through embodied experience.

Second Chakra- Fluidity of Being

“Spirituality is an exercise in trusting the inner life and dancing with change.” – Jack Kornfield

This speaks to the adaptive qualities of water, flow, and the rhythm of nature itself. It asks us to cultivate trust—shraddha in Sanskrit—as we navigate life’s currents. Water teaches us adaptability, the right to feel, and the motion of emotion. The second chakra, Svadhisthana, or dwelling place of the self, sits just below the navel, glowing with vitality in orange hues. It calls us to return to our radiance, honoring both flow and containment—Pisces’ gift of fluidity held by the grounding earth.

The Tapestry of Our Experience

“Here in this life, you will weave in and out of many mornings and evenings… Some threads are worth letting go of, others worth mending.

“So much is happening right here, and it can be a lot to take in. So as you take it in, remember to breathe out, too, and repeat this over and over again. Through it all, you will learn to embrace, release, untangle and take time to mend, whatever needed. Tapestry-like, a story still takes shape.” Morgan Harper Nichols

Pisces energy draws us inward, revealing the layers beneath the surface. Through interoception, we develop awareness from the inside out, embracing sensation, memory, and presence as integral to our unfolding story.

Balancing Kapha: From Stagnation to Flow

If Kapha’s heaviness brings inertia or dulling, the first step is acknowledgment with heart. Give it Space. Then, gently invite movement, breath, and lightness—Walking, enlivening breath practices, music, play, and inspiration can help shift stagnation. offering inspiration no matter the conditions. A touch of Pitta’s fire—sparked by playful movement and focus—can gently enliven us. Let Pisces, attuned to both Kapha (earth & water) and Vata (air & space), guide you in weaving your story, releasing threads and mending intuitively.

Fascia & the Body’s Wisdom

“I am shifting into a more resonating way of existing while expanding my energy to reach new areas for the highest and greatest good of all.” – The Moon Tarot

I’ve been inspired to deepen my understanding of myofascia and its relationship to our lived experience. Fascia is complex—structural, yet interconnected with our muscles, lymphatic, immune, and endocrine systems. Its is shaped by how we feel and carries the imprints of habit—not just in posture but in thought and behavior. We experience physiological states, such as hunger, muscle tension, and heartbeat awareness, are all through fascia’s sensory function. It is the interwoven fabric beneath the skin, holding the fluid-filled spaces between structures—muscles, ligaments, bones and more. Healthy fascia brings buoyancy; as my teacher Libby Hinsley shares, “Motion is lotion.” Fluidity, movement, deep breathing, and interoceptive awareness nourish not just the body but the whole self.

Embodying the Real & the Sacred

If you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, apathetic, or caught in stagnation from winter's transition to spring, I invite you to reflect on the wisdom of Mark Nepo:

“To stay close to our aliveness, we must keep inquiring into the real and the sacred. Who’s to say that the budding of wings from the ribs of small birds doesn’t begin with the impulse within them to live? That the butterfly breaking through its cocoon isn’t the result of its being tired of living in a tight weave of its own making? Who's to say the journey of love doesn't begin the instant we give voice to that loneliness that no one wants to hear? Who's to say the journey to peace doesn't sprout like a small wing the instant we let our feelings find their place in the world? - In truth, every effort that is allowed its full beat within will ripple as a birth of some kind in the world."

This week, we explore Pisces’ gifts, balance Kapha, and attune to fascia’s wisdom, whether through yin practice, dynamic flow, or deep listening on and off the mat. To nourishing your Svadhisthana, tending your garden and weaving your tapestry. May you connect more deeply, cultivate awareness and trust in what is real and sacred as serves your ever-becoming and our greater collective healing.
